Freyday in Texas – Professional Photographer
September 3, 2010

Howdy Y’all! I’m spending the next two Frey-days (and for those of you just joining me, Frey is pronounced Fri…so Freyday is the same as Friday, and yes, I’m that conceded that I think I have my own day! haha) in my home state of Texas! I flew in yesterday to Houston and am doing my duties as Matron of Honor and wedding dress shopping with my best friend today (YEA!!!), then off to Magnolia for some engagement photos for my baby brother and his beautiful fiancee! My travels are taking me to New Braunfels, San Antonio, and about a week back home in Austin where I’m excited to shoot some new babies I’ve yet to meet and see my friends and family! For those Austin brides that may be curious, check out my **NEW** advertisement on THE KNOT for Austin brides! Yes, I’m traveling more and more and am in love with traveling for special weddings. So that means feel free to contact me for a custom quote anytime!
Have a great weekend and make sure to check back on Monday…I’ve got a post ready from Kelly & Andrew’s Michigan wedding ready to go!

The stunning Miss Kelly Miller for a few more hours!

The rosary Kelly carried that was her grandmothers…
I just love the raw emotion and anticipation that surrounds the bride as she prepares for her wedding day. Kelly told me about this candle she purchased when she was stationed in Hawaii that was her ‘Wedding Day” candle…that someday she’d meet the man of her dreams and would light it on her wedding day…so we did!
Scott did such a great job getting Kelly’s hair to last through anything! I tell ya, that hairspray held SO well!
Have you seen such beautiful Gerber daisies??!
The blushing bride!

The groom, Andrew
More on Wednesday’s post of the rest of the wedding!

Another Michigan Freyday – Professional Photographer
August 27, 2010
Hey guys! I’m back in hot (OMG 108 today) California and missing my Michigan friends and weather! Shoutout to Yeoman Photography and our fabulous couple, Andrew & Kelly Johnson! So, here’s a quick landscape re-cap of my trip. Most of my trip was on the oh-my-gosh-I-can’t-believe-how-beautiful-it-is Mackinac Island where there are no cars and they filmed “Somewhere in Time” with Jane Seymore and Christopher Reeves…it’s now on my to-rent list, promise! Here are a few of my favorites from the trip to include The magnificent Grand Hotel, stunning Victorian homes, carriages, sailboats, lighthouses….and it wouldn’t be complete without a trip to an Amish farm in central Michigan

Thank you Brent! I enjoyed my carriage ride with you and your beautiful horses!

A beautiful harbor view from the top of the island….The church is St. Anne’s where Kelly and Andrew got married!
Me, silly? Never. I like to stay classy while standing on the most amazing front porch ever at The Grand Hotel. Classy.
With THE Matt Yeoman…who knew that working at Walt Disney World together in 2002 we’d both be wedding photographers! So glad we’re still good friends!

The beautiful Hotel Iriquois and the boat that took us back and forth!

The “Mighty Mac” bridge to the U.P. Also, a great location to finish my tour of Northern Michigan by eating my first Pastie

I visited a local Central Michigan Amish farm with the Yeoman family and really enjoyed seeing how simple and serene life could be! They had a beautiful farm and it was great watching little Bella look at all their different farm animals! Thanks Matt for pulling over!

Beautiful pictures Jessica!!! I’ve always wanted to visit Makinac. I have family that lives in Michigan and they’ve always talked about how amazing it is up there on the island.
Sometimes, I want to be Amish. Their life is definitely much more simple. With as caught up as we get in all the stuff we have going on in our lives, thinking about how they live their lives makes me long for it at times. Of course, I don’t know how long I’d survive, but it’s nice to think about.
-
That is fantastic!! Add that to my places to visit list. It looks so beautiful!
-
Great photos, it looks like you had a WONDERFUL time.
-
Glad you had a wonderful time Jessica! Next time you make it over this way give me a shout. Thanks for promoting Mackinac Island! Cheers.
-
Thank you Paul! I had an amazing time and loved visiting the island. I can only hope I get to come back! And of course if I do, I’ll give you a shout. Thanks for the kind comment!

Freyday in Michigan!
August 20, 2010
Have camera, will travel! Yesterday, I flew (boy are my arms tired, haha) into Grand Rapids for my first visit to Michigan to shoot Kelly & Andrew’s wedding on Mackinac Island. My good friend Matt of Yeoman Photography Studio hooked me up with this fabulous couple and I’m so excited to meet them and capture their special day! On a side note, a very random fact about Michgan that not too many people care about except my mother and brother is that it’s home to the orignial Olga’s Kitchen restaurant! I grew up eating Olga’s in Texas, and then it disapeared when I was in middle school. Then, I found one in Thousand Oaks, CA, but it too closed about 3 years ago. SO. When I found out I was coming to MI, I looked up locations, and sure enough there was one .6 miles from the airport! Can I get a woohoo?!! Call me crazy, but I was salivating and couldn’t wait to get my hands on my Olga! And of course I had my camera on me, so here’s my super excited face to be eating an Olga! Thanks Bethanee for accepting my crazy happy faces and enduring your first Olga! (Can’t wait to stop again on my way home on Monday!!
*PS scroll to the bottom for a sneek peak from Matt & Megan’s wedding!

1940′s Hollywood Glamour Bridal Shoot – Bakersfield Photographer
August 16, 2010
I’ve always loved the look of the Hollywood glamour of the 1940′s and how elegant and sophisticated those women were. I had the opportunity to develop an entire shoot for Little White Dress to help showcase 6 stunning wedding gowns that Jenny carries there. What better way to do it than to go full on glam?! This concept took some amazing people to pull off, and I want to thank the Noriega House for providing our gorgeous backdrop, Mike Lopez of M329 Photography for guiding me through the lighting needed (he’s amazing, y’all check out his work or attend the photography class he’s giving on the 21st for NOR http://m329.com/landing/!), Juliane & Paige for modeling these beautiful gowns, and Jenna Olson from the Contere salon & Keasha Brickell from the Glitz Salon for the beautiful period hair and makeup! Also, in Wednesday’s post you’ll see 3 more gowns and Peter Wonderly’s absolutely gorgeous white Bentley! So stay tuned, and get excited to see these images blown up on the walls of The Little White Dress!

Freyday loves wedding dresses! Bakersfield Wedding Photographer
August 13, 2010
This Freyday post was absolutely requested. That’s right. I was specifically asked forced to try on my new favorite wedding dress and pose in it and then post them for Freyday by Jenny.
If you haven’t met Jenny, the owner of the super cute Little White Dressbridal/party dress boutique, you’re missing out! She’s so kind, and could have absolutely worked with me at Disney…you know, the type of person who always has a smile on their face and is willing to help out anytime it’s needed & never appears to be upset. Yeah, well that nice woman persuaded me to put on one of her dresses and we switched roles at the end of our photo shoot! For your Freyday, I give you a few of her shots (with a touch of my editing)…plus a behind the scenes look from our photo shoot for her store this week. Get excited for Monday’s post: 1940′s Hollywood Glamour inspirational bridal shoot. Yeah! Have a great weekend! -Jessica

The beatiful Jenny and Juliane after our fun shoot! Thanks Noriega House!

Commercial Photographer – Bakersfield Professional Photographer

Part of the variety of my job includes shooting commercially for use in marketing materials, and I love the challenge that comes with that! After working in an advertising agency, I know typically what the graphic designers are looking for in terms of layout and room for text. Last week, I had the pleasure of working with The Lodge at Painted Rock, a beautiful facility near completion out in the mountains near Lake Isabella, CA. They’ve just completed a beautiful outdoor ceremony area and grand stairs that I’m so excited to help them showcase. For more information, you can visit their website: Lodge at Painted Rock

The absolutely stunning back view of the main lodge with grand double stairways. Breathtaking!
What a beautiful ceremony site!
Thank you to Jordyn Martin for modeling, Shauna Lofy for assisting, & The Limousine Scene!

What do you get when you mix 10 pretty headbands, sparkly tiaras, 2 feather boas, 2 tutus, butterfly wings, a burberry swimsuit, and lots of giggles? Only the cutest little girls ever! I had so much fun getting to see Joselyn & Erica’s little girls again, along with meeting the newest baby. They were a fun handful and I give all moms everywhere a huge applause for their daily job of taking care of such sweet energetic kids!
