About a month ago, I had the opportunity to meet Mallory to discuss her upcoming wedding and we learned as soon as I opened the door that we both have Westie’s (Yea!!)…but as the conversation turned to the man she was going to marry we realized we had more in common beyond having the cutest dogs ever.  Joel has just recently graduated from West Point Military Academy and as a past Naval Academy girlfriend/fiancee myself, I know the range of feelings she’s going through now as he heads to his first assignment and they’re both getting ready to live the military life!  Thank you Joel, and to all the men and women out there signing up to protect our country and to the wives who love you and are there by your side through all of the moving and in-decisiveness that comes with the future that lies ahead!  I couldn’t wait to chat with her about questions that may have and share with her how my life has been impacted (all good, right!) by the military and deployments.  It’s an interesting thing loving a man in the military – it’s an adventurous life that’s for sure that takes you places you never thought you would live!  (Hello Bakersfield!!!).  So when I found out Joel would be home for a few weeks for leave we got their engagement session on the calendar and figured we’d shoot both with an urban backdrop and hit the fields for some great evening light.  These two were so sweet (and I also believe they’ve had a previous life as catalogue models!) and I loved working with them and practicing their ‘poses’ for their big day!  Joel and Mallory, thank you so much for a great session.  I’m excited about your future and can’t wait for your wedding day!
