Forrest Hill Wedding – Gina & Vinny
August 30, 2011
Last weekend, I got to escape the Bakersfield heat and head up to Forresthill, CA – just north of Sacramento for Gina & Vinny’s wedding!! Gina’s sister Stephanie is the amazing guru behind Gimmee Some Sugar (remember my Cinderella birthday cake, anyone?!) and I was so excited to be able to capture this day for their family. I instantly fell in love with Gina’s color scheme – yellow and grey with bedazzled sparkles everywhere! Seriously? A girl after my own heart
Jennifer Williams accompanied me to second shoot and we had a wonderful time meeting the family and enjoying the photo booth with everyone! Watching Vinny & Gina (and Neveah) become a family unit was so special and sweet – the love that radiates when they look at each other was so powerful, I’m not sure there was s dry eye during the ceremony! Vinny and Gina, thank you for letting us capture your big day and enjoy some of my favorite images – too many to choose from, so enjoy the long post! Congratulations, hope you enjoyed Italy!!! - Jessica
The detailed hair pieces and garter were amazing!!
Details are always so important - and in Gina’s case, she had her grandmother’s wedding dress made into a beautiful lace flower for her bouquet along with a purse to carry that day. So sweet and special!
Did you know there were this many different types of orange flowers?!! Simply stunning!
Girls, you all were fabulous to work with and made such a stunning bridal party!!
Mother of the Bride
Sisters!!!
Absolutely gorgeous – Gina, you are stunning!
Such a ham, Vinny!
Please come back on Wednesday for some more photos from their wedding!

Freyday – San Diego iPhone photos
August 26, 2011
Last weekend after a great wedding just north of Sacramento, I drove down to San Diego for the hubby’s medical appointments at the Naval Hospital. Who knew driving for 9 hours wouldn’t be so bad! Thanks to Jenn for keeping me company until Bakersfield
Once I got to San Diego, I got to spend 2 days with Eric (yea for spouse time!!) and in between appointments, we wondered the harbor just south of Little Italy! I decided to leave my camera at home and do an entire iPhone photo Freyday
You’ll notice that the iPhone takes good shots, but I hope that you parents out there using it to capture your child’s memories are thinking twice – these can’t be printed to look nice if you ever choose to print an iPhone photo. Always capture important moments with a camera – point and shoot or professional! So, on that note here are some of my not so important snapshots during our walk along the water and the gorgeous sunset we got to see!
p.s. Scroll to the bottom for a sneak peek of something awesome!!
p.p.s. *Just a side note to future new clients – I will be scheduling very minimal additional shoots (HS Senior/Family) between Sept – December to help nurse Eric before/during/after his major back surgery. Weddings and Engagement clients – you guys are all taken care of in the calendar and shouldn’t worry!

He’s a pirate.

*Kind of bothered that it’s AUGUST and I have to wear pants and a jacket with my cute summer dress in order to go outside. I know, you guys in 100+ weather in Texas are saying “stop whining” but come on – This Texas girl needs some heat! 65 degrees is too cold for August

Oh yeah, we went there. Even had someone ask if we wanted to be in this photo together. I politely said no way! Thanks though
Ok Ok…I had to show Eric that he was doing it all wrong. Let me show you how it’s done!
Alright, if you’ve made it this far past my oh-yeah-iphone-photos-are-grainy-but-thanks-for-sharing then here’s a treat for you! I’m launching a new website hopefully by Sept 1st. Here’s a sneak peek at the homepage!!! I can’t wait to share this new branded site – if you would like to help me out by previewing a demo and letting me know your feedback to make sure all the links work correctly just let me know (comment/facebook/email/phone call/text) I would love to get your input! Also, stay tuned for a new promotional video we shot last month appearing on the new website, facebook and YouTube for all potential brides out there! So exciting!!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I’m so excited to shoot Allyson & Jake’s wedding tomorrow – and 3 engagement sessions Sun/Mon/Tuesday!!

Hey Jessica, I didn’t know Eric was having back problems. I hope all goes well. I totally love the photos of the “twin sculptures dancing at sunset”! So you asked, and I will gladly offer to preview your new site. You already know that I love your work, Megan & Jason’s photos are FANTASTIC, and I would love to help out any way I can, so count me in. Hugs to you and Eric XO XO

Mackinac Island Wedding – Anniversary!
August 17, 2011

Happy Anniversary Kelly & Andrew!
This time last summer, I finally met Kelly, a bride from Michigan I had only talked on the phone with – and was able to work for my good friend Matt who owns Yeoman Photography (Grand Rapids, MI) and capture her wedding to Andrew on the absolutely picturesque location of Mackinac Island, MI! It was an amazing trip made perfect by the bond I had with Kelly – we just clicked (no pun intended!) and from the moment I met her after traveling from CA by plane, car and boat – I knew she was special! A year later, I received a package in the mail with a sweet note of thanks and a DVD of the classic movie, Somewhere in Time! (Somewhere in Time is a wonderful romantic movie set at The Grand Hotel with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymore that I highly recommend!) It blew me away how kind and thoughtful Kelly was – and the timing was amazing! I’ve been planning to do a 1 year anniversary blog post of their Day After photo shoot that I did with Matt.
Here are a few of my favorites, congratulations you two – and I’m so excited about your new adventures together this month!!
If you’d like to see my travel photos and others from the day after Kelly & Andrew’s wedding, here is my blog post from last summer: Mackinac Island – Travel photos
I would love to share, with Kelly’s permission, my card with you: ”Jessica, I am passing along a heartfelt thank you for being there with me throughout the weekend of my wedding! I do not regret not having bridesmaids, however I did suspect that I would regret not having my friends there the morning of my wedding. Little could I have imagined what a gift it was to have you at the hotel while I was getting ready for one of the most important days of my life! You were an angel in disguise! :) Not only did you capture what was most important for Andrew and I, but you helped capture some beautiful moments as I walked in my dress into Lake Huron with the Mackinaw Bridge behind me! Good luck with all of your future endevors! Live, Love, Laugh, Kelly” This makes my heart happy and I feel so blessed – thank you Kelly!!!

Cheers, you two!! Congratulations – enjoy your Anniversary this weekend! Big Hugs- Jessica

Freyday in Monterey!

Monterey Bay Aquarium
Last Sunday after the Carmel wedding, I got the chance to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the hubby and my cousin and his fabulous family! I’d always heard great things about this aquarium and couldn’t wait to see “ISHIES” and penguins and jelly fish and flamingos and sharks and eels and manta rays…and the worlds ugliest fish
We had a fun time strolling around with Cerys, bumping into strangers (man it was packed!), and looking through all the exhibits. I even touched a star fish. I know, adventurous
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy some cool shots I got with my 24mm and 50mm in the darkest aquarium ever!
Ugliest. Fish. Ever. I was so confused and couldn’t quite figure it out! I think it’s about 4-6 feet across too, huge!
NEMO!! I was just as excited as all the little kids peering into this tank….
Dori!
It was so fun watching Cerys get all excited about the ishies
Pengies. This one is for Megan

Freyday Travels – San Francisco/DC/Annapolis
July 22, 2011
I love that I get to travel often: for work…to visit family…and getting to combine those two things with seeing old friends in one of the many places the military has sent them is even better! Last week was no exception. I realized in the span of 7 days I had been in Austin, Bakersfield, San Francisco, Washington DC, and Annapolis, MD. No wonder I’m exhausted! It was wonderful seeing family and friends, catching up with some I hadn’t seen in 3 years and going back to the East Coast! Probably the best part of all that (besides being home with my brother, having a home cooked meal and getting my momma hugs) was I literally got to see all of my best girl friends in one week! Katelyn, Aubree, Maureen, Penny, Andria, Sarah…just missing a few, but how fantastic to get to see you girls!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Here are just a few shots I got…not too much time for touristy stuff, plus after living there for 2 years, been there, done that!
Dressed up in DC with my family!
Jason’s pretend Secret Service look
KC – my original Westie!
Chesapeake Bay – Annapolis, Maryland
Loved this…a Marine Corps/Navy home just outside the Naval Academy gates
I grabbed a shot of Dahlgren Hall….that dance floor is where I met Eric over 9 years ago!
The Naval Academy Chapel
The beautiful Magee Family…first comes their wedding here, and now baby! Congratulations you guys!
Andria and sweet Miss A. So glad I got to see them a grab a few photos! Seems like forever ago we were roomies and hanging out in DTA
She is just too precious…and come on, 18 months and already walking with a purse and talking on an iPhone!

Have a great weekend! I’m off to Carmel to shoot the wedding of Jessie and Jessica! (Shouldn’t be confusing at all!)

Fourth of July – Walt Disney World Fireworks
July 4, 2011
Happy Fourth of July!
Since the entire state of Texas is on a current burn ban – NO FIREWORKS – I thought I’d celebrate by re-posting the best fireworks I’ve ever seen….the Disney World fireworks at Magic Kingdom! So, sit back and enjoy some really beautiful ones (and pretend I’m playing the 1812 Overature in the background!) Have a wonderful time being with friends and family…I know we’re relaxing with my family after a beautiful and amazing wedding last night! Congratulations Jason and Megan Lester!!!

Freyday – Adventures in Santa Monica
April 1, 2011
The Santa Monica Pier
Hi everyone! Well, I am currently traveling today on an airplane back to Texas! I’m photographing the Pullig family in Killeen, TX and College Station, TX over the weekend
I can’t wait to see some old friends, get back to Aggieland and get some great photos done with hopefully a few blue bonnets…and of course some Blue Bell ice cream action in my tummy! (Oh, and a HUGE WHOOP to my Lady Aggie’s basketball team who has made it to the FINAL 4! Final 4, people!)
Since I’ve been traveling a lot lately solo, Eric and I took an opportunity this week to go to Santa Monica for an appointment and spent the day relaxing and soaking up the beautiful SoCal sunshine. We people watched (actually saw a man and his wife pushing a pink dog stroller), had ice cream cones, watched a trapeze artists, almost got ran over by a silent-but-deadly Prius going 3 miles an hour in an ally (The Office fans will get that reference!!) strolled through the Promenade, and just plain hung out just the two of us. It was wonderful! We both have very busy lives, and I cherish the quiet moments we make for each other…even on random days of the week! I hope you all have a great weekend! I have so many great posts and events coming up so stay tuned for some fabulous clients all next week!
I even got in a quick gymnastics workout….the rings were a bit too tough for me, although I tried!
Have a great weekend!! Briana and Dominic’s engagement session will be up on Monday so come back to see this awesome couple! -Jessica

Harry Potter Theme Park
February 16, 2011
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
“Is that FogWarts”….my cute mom who has never read or seen any of the Harry Potter books or movies said to me as we saw this….made me laugh and was a great start to the day! Today’s post is for all my HP fans out there! I had the awesome opportunity to have an extra day in Orlando with my mom last week and asked if she would go with me to see the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I was just too curious to see it in real life… the story that had me captivated and holed up in my room the day the last book was released
Anyone else do that?!! Now, I’m not the person to dress up and stand in line for the midnight showings (ahem, love you Electric A) but I really enjoyed the story and couldn’t wait to get my hands on some Butterbeer! It was pretty magical stepping from Jarassic Park world, hearing the Harry Potter theme song and crossing over into Hogsmede to see the looming iconic school of Hogwarts! I tried to capture the essence for you all since I never leave home without my camera, so I hope you enjoy it! We had a pretty cold, blown out-sky type of day, but it went well with the wintery-theme they have going…and yes the snow is fake. It doesn’t snow in Florida! Enjoy!
There is a really neat ‘flying’ visual type ride inside Hogwarts that takes you on a journey as though you’re on a broom…The journey to get to the ride is of course long and you wind through about 30 min of a line, but they’ve got Dumbledor’s office with him in it speaking…then you head to a classroom where the invisible cloak reveals a very realistic Harry, Hermoine, and Ron talking to you about your impending adventure….Hermoine has to cast a spell to get all us Muggles broom flying power
It was pretty impressive, but the motion sickness got me in! The ride ends in Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods which is where I was able to get some sweet HP merchandise

Down the hill is Hogsmede! The town looked amazing and just like in the movies. Except all the people were wearing tourist clothes! I immediately went for the Butterbeer cart and didn’t care if I didn’t like it. I just had to try it! The guy took a glass, filled it about 3/4 of the way full with a type of soda and then put a creme about 1/2 thick on top from a spout that looked awesome. And it was! They’re kind of secretive about what it was, but my best guess is it’s a type of rootbeer/cream soda and the topping is a white butterscotch foam that I swear continued to ‘magically’ grow as I drank more! It really was DELICIOUS! And non-alcoholic. I assumed it would be since all the kids in the book drink it….something like Rootbeer, but instead it’s Butter(scotch)beer. I would actually be pretty excited if I could get this on a regular basis! YUM!
Mom and I enjoying our 2nd Butterbeer….and you see the guy in the left background on the phone? Mom wanted me to take my picture with him. Um, he’s just another fan who happens to be all Griffindor’ed out and wearing the exact same scarf as me! I laughed
I tried to get a close up with my 5omm to showcase the goodness and foamy-ness that is Butterbeer….
The train station for the Hogwarts Express…just to the left is the platform 33 1/3 and it looked pretty neat!
While posing for this photo, the “Conductor” of the Hogwarts Expressed asked my mom my name and then continued to teach me the proper way to drink my Butterbeer as a demonstration to all those watching! I’m not shy at all so it was a ton of fun…turns out it’s absolutely appropriate to drink it so that you have the foam all over your face. The more the better
Olivander’s wand store was really neat! You actually got to go inside (30 ppl at a time of course) and watch as Olivander (who looked and acted just as I thought he would) choses a wizard amongst the room to try to match a wand to him. Mom was impressed with this one, very well done WWofHP! Well done
Yes, this is the MONSTER book! And some guy was trying to stick his fingers in the cage to see if it would bite him. Go figure
Honeydukes and Zonkos were pretty neat stores that actually sold candy and toys! The Listening Ears and Chocolate Frogs were my favorite
We had lunch at the Three Broomsticks Pub which was really neat! All english food…so a shepherd’s pie was in order. I happened to get behind a couple from England and they were not in the least bit impressed with the food…oh, Americans. Come on
They had this “Ad” out for Sirus Black and it moved….so I had to explain that photos in HP world are more like videos to mom…still it was pretty neat!
I went down a side ally and saw this and couldn’t help but giggle…There was a sign for Gringotts Bank…and what do you find? A modern day ATM machine.
One last Butterbeer for the walk back to the car….Thanks mom for spending an adventure-filled magical week with me! Hope you guys get to visit and try the Butterbeer for yourselves someday!

I am not usually into the theme park thing, but this looks so awesome! I’m so glad you did your blog post on this so I could see how cool it was! The last book came out the day of my best friends wedding, and we still went out to the bookstore at midnight to get our hands on a copy.

What a fabulous photo journey. Thanks for giving this muggle the thrill of her day!

A Snowy Lester Family Christmas
December 27, 2010

I hope you all had a very blessed Christmas! I know I enjoyed some time off to celebrate with my family….we haven’t all been together in over a year! It was great getting to know my future sister-in-law better, and even more fun to watch her see and play in snow for the first time in her life! My always-awesome husband used the perfectly packed snow to build us a 6 foot snowman…add to that an amazing 2 days of skiing in Colorado and I’m a happy woman! We also did a snow-engagement session for my brother and Megan, so look for that on Wednesday along with some ski photos on Freyday!
Dad drove most of the way from DC…fun times all in the truck!
The first Durango sunset we saw!
Megan’s first adventure into the snow! A little deeper than she anticipated
My fabulous parents
Getting the base of the snowman made…plus a pose from Eric I couldn’t stop laughing at!
Lester Family, December 2010
Mom took this one with only 2 seconds of instruction….hense the out of foucs, but fun photo! Thanks mom!
Our beautiful little Christmas tree

We celebrated in Albuquerque with a beautiful sunset view and amazing dinner thanks to the Emrie family!
