Inspired by Beauty & The Beast a Navy Blue & Yellow Wedding - Part 2
February 1, 2012

A Tale as old as Time – a Modern Day Fairy Tale Wedding
Beauty and the Beast/Navy and Yellow Wedding Inspiration
Here is Part 2 of our amazingly EPIC adventure to capture the modern day Fairy Tale ideas for navy and yellow weddings! If you missed Part 1 – the Blizzard/Snow filled photo shoot you can view it here: Beauty & The Beast Snow Wedding Photo Shoot
Today’s images are more details that we were unable to capture due to 17 degrees/20mph winds and SNOW
I’m so thankful that both models, Jessica & James were able to shoot again the next morning in a more dry and slightly warmer area so we could show you just how wonderful this wedding dress was from Ladies and Gents Bridal, the suit from Finos Menswear, and more detail shots of the flowers/cake/stationary! When we met with Tiffany and Laura at Ladies and Gents Bridal, they had the PERFECT dress for us – “SaBelle” by Maggie Sottero. Add some gorgeous bling and a romantic ballero and you’ve got a high fashion modern bride inspired by “Belle’s” dress from Beauty and the Beast! I was thrilled to showcase this modern day, elegant beautiful way of doing a Navy and Yellow wedding that wasn’t cheesy or too “Disney” so I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at them! Please scroll to the bottom to visit our vendors and tell them what an amazing job they did!! Have a wonderful, magical day – thanks for stopping by and if you come back on Freyday – you’ll get to see some behind the scene shots of our shoots!!! -Jessica
Just a few more details – books, a chipped tea cup, and James’ interpretation of the rose in the vase

You guys know I had to grab a shot of shoes that Jessica picked out to compliment the Navy/Yellow theme – Gold sparkly heels!! Makes my heart pitter patter

Modern Day Classy Fairy Tale Beauty and the Beast Wedding Cake
Here are some more images of Gimme Some Sugar’s amazingly beautiful cake! Owner, Stephanie took the invitations and created this beautiful yellow and blue damask cake. Matinae Design Studio who created the invitation also created a custom sillouette cake topper for us! I threw in a red rose from house of Flowers, more bling and grabbed just a few more shots to showcase this amazing centerpiece! Truly a modern day fairy tale Beauty and the Beast cake!!
Again, I cannot thank these amazing vendors enough – their expertise and creativity continue to blow me away! I’ve personally worked with all of them before and would HIGHLY recommend their services to any bride anywhere. Love them!

Navy & Yellow Wedding – Inspired by Beauty & The Beast
January 30, 2012
Modern Day – Fairy Tale Wedding
Wedding ideas for the Bride who loves Beauty & The Beast and Navy & Yellow weddings!
I got such an amazing response after the ‘Snow White‘ inspired wedding ideas I shot last month that I, along with several amazing vendors started working on taking it to the next level to really give brides out there Fairy Tale inspiration! I am in love with the wedding colors of Yellow and Navy – it can be done in so many ways and always photographs well, and well, is the main colors for Beauty & The Beast! I have thank to my model, Jessica, who contacted me about doing a photo shoot….and, hello….looks just like Belle! So, I thought to myself, ’What could a modern day bride do for a Fairy Tale “Beauty & The Beast” inspired wedding? Here’s what we came up with – please scroll to the bottom and help me thank the vendors and people who all made this possible!
*Also, come back on Wednesday for Part 2 of our photo shoot sans snowstorm and blizzard conditions! (Yes, it was 17 degrees, 15mph winds and snowing during our entire shoot!)
Without further ado – Beauty & The Beast’s Navy & Yellow Wedding concept shoot:
And one more shot literally taken seconds later with flash just to showcase to you the snow that was indeed coming down the entire photo shoot – we got at least 2 inches in the 10-15min. that I was shooting this scene! Crazy!!!
Again, I cannot thank these amazing vendors enough – their expertise and creativity continue to blow me away! I’ve personally worked with all of them before and would HIGHLY recoomened their services to any bride anywhere. Love them!

Bakersfield Vows Magazine + An Interview with Jessica Frey
January 11, 2012
Wow. January has already been an amazing month for my photography business. I knew last year that I’d have several magazines coming out this month, but the reality hit me today when I saw a pile in my office of Vows magazines, Bakersfield Life, The Californian, and First for Women magazine. I feel truly blessed to have been provided with opportunities such as these to showcase my wedding photography and the magnitude of them all happening so close together is something I want to treasure – and today’s blog post is for me to remember and celebrate these!
Bakersfield Life Magazine:
If you’re a local Bakersfield person or you follow my photography facebook page, you may have already seen the January issue of Bakersfield Life. For those of you who haven’t, here are some screen shots of the article that I photographed and participated it. It was wonderful being able to be grouped with 3 other female wedding vendors in town whom I truly admire, respect and would recommend in a heartbeat! Since I typically get asked to shoot the “Four Women Who….or Four Men Who…” article each month for Bakersfield Life Magazine it was a double bonus getting to not only photograph it, but to be interviewed! The ladies were so patient with me using a tripod and timer to make it all work and I enjoyed getting to know them all better! To read the entire interview, you can see the magazine online here: http://issuu.com/
VOWS Magazine
For the third year now I was asked to provide the cover image for Vows Magazine – the yearly wedding insert for Bakersfield Life. When talking to the staff about images we could use, the one I took of the bride in a local almond orchard was brought up – and it’s one of my favorites! I was also able to provide several images to accompany the articles in the Vows magazine, and am so thankful for the exposure and trust Bakersfield Life has continued to give me. Here’s a peek at the magazine and you can also view it online here: http://issuu.com/bakersfieldlifemagazine/docs/vows/1?mode=window

This page was one of my favorites – Chad & Amanda’s wedding was one of my favorites in 2011…and to see my new sister-in-law Megan’s photo chosen to show off her beautiful lace dress was a bonus!
First for Women Magazine
Also, this week the newest issue of the national publication First for Women Magazine came out on news stands! I had the pleasure of working for them back in November to photograph a weight loss sucess story of a mother and daughter in Tehachapi! It was so much fun working with Kimberly Lawson as our stylist and Daniella Ozuna who did hair and makeup and getting to know our models – the lovely Nikole and Cindy. If you’re interested in learning more about fat flushing soups, pick up a copy today – trust me, these ladies looked outstanding!
It’s currently at your local grocery store nationwide….and yes, I may have squealed and held back my immediate urge to tell the people in line with me that I have a photo that I took…you know…right here….on a cover…haha!
The Bakersfield Californian
While we’re on the topic of being overwhelmed with fun things happening for my business, yesterday I was honored to see a photo that local Californian newspaper photographer, Felix Adamo captured of me at the Ultimate Bridal Event! I’ll be doing an entire blog post coming up next Freyday with all the photos from the show that others took of me! Let’s just say it was magical ![]()

Here’s a close up, the text reads: ”Cinderella, also known as photographer, Jessica Frey talks to 5-year-old Alex Franklin at the Ultimate Bridal Event Sunday at Rabobank Convention Center. Frey was helping a friend (Colleen Bauer) at the Fairy Godmother booth, which offers wedding and event planning services.” YEA!!! I absolutely adore my Fairy Godmothers and any bride would be making a wonderful choice to hire them on to take care of all the details/day of coordinating/etc!!! You can find all of their information here: abridesfairygodmother.com

Have a wonderful day!!! Thank you for letting me share what an amazing week this has been for me! I truly am so blessed and thankful!!!

Jessica Frey Photography – 2012 Weddings!
January 9, 2012
Jessica Frey Photography Promotional video
Make sure to watch the last 30 seconds of the video…it’s my favorite and you are in for a special treat!!!
Are you getting married in 2012?! If so, Congratulations on planning the greatest day of your life!
This time-frame between Christmas and Valentine’s day is one filled with excitement for women, and especially wedding vendors….it’s the most popular time for couples to get engaged!! I love hearing about all of the sweet holiday/Valentine’s day proposal stories and how you’re planning to make your day special and unique to your love story
It’s this time of year you’re attending Bridal Shows and quite possibly becoming overwhelmed at all of the different options that are now open to you because you’ve got a shiny ring on your left hand….and I hope that I can help alleviate some of that stress today. I received an email from Martha Stewart Weddings last week – and it had a ton of lists….questions to ask your wedding vendors. I was intrigued to see what was being put out there for you to use, so I figured why not go ahead and fill it out and put it out there on my blog for you guys to read! SO, although I have many more answers with more elaborate answers, here are 3 pages of questions you should ask your photographer – filled out in Jessica Frey Photography format….so enjoy, and if you are looking to book photography for a 2012 wedding, I’d love to hear more from you and see if we click! (pun intended…haha.) -Jessica Frey

I hope this has helped some of you brides out there with those ‘go to’ questions for your photographer…and if it sounds like we might be a good fit, I look forward to hearing from you!!! Have a wonderful day, and Congratulations!

Kate & Mike's San Francisco Wedding
January 4, 2012
2011 was a great year for me and as it winded down, Eric and I joined our friends Kate & Mike as they got married in San Francisco on December 30th! There’s not too many better ways to celebrate the end of a year than with the beginning of a marriage (and for my friends Colin and Sandie – a baby!). For the first time in 4 years, I was a guest. A guest at a wedding – not involved at all (minus of course the emails and phone calls from Kate helping her with wedding stuff from time to time and dress shopping which was so much fun!). This was the first time I was not in the wedding party, and not the photographer – or both
Not gonna lie, it was difficult to sit back, relax and watch everything unfold! I guess that means I love my job so much and love being a part of the inner workings of each wedding as it unfolds! Now, of course I did end up relaxing and enjoyed a non-rushed meal, dancing on the dance floor for reals, eating cake and even got to enjoy a libation or two
I did bring my camera with one lens (24-70) – no flash and stayed away from any potential photo ops out of respect of course….but I still managed a few good shots that I figured I’d share today! Kate & Mike chose St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in San Francisco’s Financial District for their ceremony and it was just beautiful. I loved the gorgeous stained glass windows, old world architecture and the alter was just spectacular. It made for a very dramatic entrance as Kate came down the aisle! From there, we celebrated with them at The Pacific-Union Club – a classy men’s club with lots of neat dark wood panels, fireplaces and chandeliers that made for an elegant setting for this black tie affair. So, enjoy a few of my snapshots – even pulled out my party camera after a while
Congratulations Mike & Kate – wishing you two a lifetime of happiness and adventures!! -Jessica and Eric
St. Dominic’s Catholic Church…and my handsome date:
All pre-wedding festivities were held at The Fairmont. A gorgeous hotel right across the street from the reception…and where we went post-wedding to say hi to old friends!
The Reception was just beautiful – lots of dark wood, pin lighting and a warm orange/pink up lighting:
With the gorgeous bride!! Congrats Kate!

Jessica Frey Photography – 2011 Weddings
January 2, 2012
About two years ago, I started implementing a goal at each wedding to get in front of the camera and have my 2nd shooter grab a moment for me….a quick photo of me with all of my couples on their wedding day! I realized that I often refer to ‘my’ couples…’my’ brides, ‘my grooms’ in conversation and here on the blog, and it’s meant as a very loving ‘my’. I feel so invested in each of you and am proud that you’ve chosen me to capture the biggest day of your life – to be there for you on the happiest day of your life – to preserve each special moment that makes up that one day in your life where you commit to one another as husband and wife. So yes, you’re ‘my’ couples and I love it! I may have missed a few of you this year…SOOO Sorry!! But, here is a collection of me and MY couples on their wedding days!!!
Enjoy and may this new year bring about more moments of love, joy and happiness! Happy 2012!! -Jessica

That photograph of Carrie and her grandmother is my absolute favorite. If you were paid a million dollars and that’s the only photo you got… I’d say it was worth it.
And on top of that, you have loads of other beautiful moments! -
LOVE THESE!!! Love the color of the leaves, her fur shrug, the color of the groom’s shirt, the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses, the pic with her Grandma, the Christmas lights at the alter & the pics of them together at the end (especially her looking over her shoulder)! BEAUTIFUL! Loved it! Xo

A Sweet Coral & Teal Wedding – Details
December 19, 2011
A sweet wedding for a sweet couple! I had the honor of photographing Chris & Carrie’s wedding this weekend in Bakersfield at my church…..and can’t wait to show you all the details they chose! The color combinations and DIY projects they did really added a personal touch that came together perfectly. From Carrie’s gorgeous style pieces – hello winter wedding cover up, to Chris’ choice of ties – octopi?!, to the awesome centerpieces, there wasn’t a detail I didn’t admire. I know a huge thank you goes out to their friends and family who helped make this day happen. You all were a joy to be around and made the day so special!
Chris and Carrie – thank you so much for trusting me on your big day!! Big hugs to you guys – enjoy this sneak peek!!!
-Jessica
These ties are amazing. At first glance, I thought …..’what a sweet paisley tie’. Then, I looked closer. Chris had them custom made for his groomsmen, what an amazing idea!
Reception details:
I’m in love with these books!! What a sweet idea – take old books and create a flower centerpiece!
And now…getting ready for the ceremony…..
Stay tuned for the rest of Chris & Carrie’s wedding coming on Wednesday’s blog!
