Sleeping Beauty Fairy Tale inspired wedding ideas
March 7, 2012
Fairy Tales – I absolutely adore them and as a photographer, I want to explore how brides can utilize familiar fairy tale stories and create modern wedding ideas! For this 3rd Fairy Tale photo shoot I wanted to incorporate pinks and golds, tiaras and pink roses to simbolize Sleeping Beauty – add to that my big dream of creating a magical setting to shoot in that only a princess would love. With the help of amazing friends my image came to life last weekend and I’m so excited to share with you my concept for modern Sleeping Beauty wedding details….sit back, relax and enjoy!!
How gorgeous are these custom wedding invitations complete with gold and pink, a gold crown and my favorite part – bling! Sparkly Sparkly bling.
We are fresh out of castles in Bakersfield, so the next best thing? Bring a bed and create a canopy and place it in the middle of a beautiful blossoming orchard! It was so exciting to see a vision I had in my head come to life after a lot of hard work building/painting/hauling and having amazing friends help set it up and bring it to life!
What do you think? Magical?
It’s in this fairy tale bed where we find Sleeping Beauty “Briar Rose” after pricking her finger on the wooden spindle…..
True Love’s Kiss will break the spell…..
And they danced and lived Happily Ever After…..

Gorgeous!!!

Jessica…your photos truly captured the beautiful Cantrell family whom we have known for years~~Andy was just 8 yrs. old!! It was very emotional to be a part of the special day as Andy and his beautiful wife, Judy, give their stunning daughter, Mallory to Joel in marriage! And, to see beautiful Emily as the maid of honor…such a happy happy occasion! There isn’t one of your photos that doesn’t tell a story of this beautiful and very special family whom we love dearly!

Beverley, thank you so much for the sweet comment, I absolutely adore them and was so honored to capture all the fun and emotions of the day!

Mallory & Joel – Seven Oaks CC Army Wedding
February 22, 2012
This past Saturday I had the pleasure of starting off the 2012 wedding season with an amazing couple! When I first met Mallory (along with her sweet mom and sister) I realized half way through our meeting that her fiancee was a West Point graduate and she would be a new military wife - I was so thrilled! My own husband is also a military academy grad (USNA!) so I instinctively started talking with her about the experience of dating a guy at an Academy. We immediately hit it off and after meeting Joel while he was home for their engagement photos I knew their wedding day would be special – and it was more than that! Mallory was such a calm and GORGEOUS bride surrounded by her beautiful bridesmaids - and of course you can’t go wrong with a wedding full of guys dressed in military uniforms!
Today’s blog post is a detail post – I adored the jewelry and details Mallory chose to compliment her grey and light pink wedding color scheme….so enjoy!
Check back next week for more images from Mallory & Joel’s wedding!!!

Why Hire Jessica Frey For Your Wedding?
February 15, 2012
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good Valentine’s day hanging out with your loved ones! My hubby sure did good this year with a surprise dinner date, flowers, a balooon and the best gift of all – a DVD slideshow of photos he’s gathered from our 7 years of marriage! It was amazing – crying and laughing all over the place
Did any of you get engaged?! I’m pretty sure Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular days for men to propose, so in honor of that I thought I’d go ahead and answer questions for current ladies planning their weddings to help simplify the process. If you are engaged, then you’re probably reading the magazines and looking at the lists they give you and ‘what to ask your vendor’ sections. So, in order to keep this super easy, I printed out that list of “What to Ask Your Photographer” and filled it out for you!
Jessica Frey Photography Promotional video
Make sure to watch the last 30 seconds of the video…it’s my favorite and you are in for a special treat!!!
I hope this has helped some of you brides out there with those ‘go to’ questions for your photographer…and if it sounds like we might be a good fit, I look forward to hearing from you!!! Have a wonderful day, and Congratulations!

I’m so thankful that both models, Jessica & James were able to shoot again the next morning in a more dry and slightly warmer area so we could show you just how wonderful this wedding dress was from Ladies and Gents Bridal, the suit from Finos Menswear, and more detail shots of the flowers/cake/stationary! When we met with Tiffany and Laura at Ladies and Gents Bridal, they had the PERFECT dress for us – “SaBelle” by Maggie Sottero. Add some gorgeous bling and a romantic ballero and you’ve got a high fashion modern bride inspired by “Belle’s” dress from Beauty and the Beast! I was thrilled to showcase this modern day, elegant beautiful way of doing a Navy and Yellow wedding that wasn’t cheesy or too “Disney” so I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at them! Have a wonderful, magical day – thanks for stopping by and if you come back on Freyday – you’ll get to see some behind the scene shots of our shoots!!! -Jessica

Modern Day – Fairy Tale Wedding

I got such an amazing response after the ‘Snow White‘ inspired wedding ideas I shot last month that I, along with several amazing vendors started working on taking it to the next level to really give brides out there Fairy Tale inspiration! I am in love with the wedding colors of Yellow and Navy – it can be done in so many ways and always photographs well, and well, is the main colors for Beauty & The Beast! Bakersfield Vows Magazine + An Interview with Jessica Frey
January 11, 2012
Wow. January has already been an amazing month for my photography business. I knew last year that I’d have several magazines coming out this month, but the reality hit me today when I saw a pile in my office of Vows magazines, Bakersfield Life, The Californian, and First for Women magazine. I feel truly blessed to have been provided with opportunities such as these to showcase my wedding photography and the magnitude of them all happening so close together is something I want to treasure – and today’s blog post is for me to remember and celebrate these!
Bakersfield Life Magazine:
If you’re a local Bakersfield person or you follow my photography facebook page, you may have already seen the January issue of Bakersfield Life. For those of you who haven’t, here are some screen shots of the article that I photographed and participated it. It was wonderful being able to be grouped with 3 other female wedding vendors in town whom I truly admire, respect and would recommend in a heartbeat! Since I typically get asked to shoot the “Four Women Who….or Four Men Who…” article each month for Bakersfield Life Magazine it was a double bonus getting to not only photograph it, but to be interviewed! The ladies were so patient with me using a tripod and timer to make it all work and I enjoyed getting to know them all better! To read the entire interview, you can see the magazine online here: http://issuu.com/
VOWS Magazine
For the third year now I was asked to provide the cover image for Vows Magazine – the yearly wedding insert for Bakersfield Life. When talking to the staff about images we could use, the one I took of the bride in a local almond orchard was brought up – and it’s one of my favorites! I was also able to provide several images to accompany the articles in the Vows magazine, and am so thankful for the exposure and trust Bakersfield Life has continued to give me. Here’s a peek at the magazine and you can also view it online here: http://issuu.com/bakersfieldlifemagazine/docs/vows/1?mode=window

This page was one of my favorites – Chad & Amanda’s wedding was one of my favorites in 2011…and to see my new sister-in-law Megan’s photo chosen to show off her beautiful lace dress was a bonus!
First for Women Magazine
Also, this week the newest issue of the national publication First for Women Magazine came out on news stands! I had the pleasure of working for them back in November to photograph a weight loss sucess story of a mother and daughter in Tehachapi! It was so much fun working with Kimberly Lawson as our stylist and Daniella Ozuna who did hair and makeup and getting to know our models – the lovely Nikole and Cindy. If you’re interested in learning more about fat flushing soups, pick up a copy today – trust me, these ladies looked outstanding!
It’s currently at your local grocery store nationwide….and yes, I may have squealed and held back my immediate urge to tell the people in line with me that I have a photo that I took…you know…right here….on a cover…haha!
The Bakersfield Californian
While we’re on the topic of being overwhelmed with fun things happening for my business, yesterday I was honored to see a photo that local Californian newspaper photographer, Felix Adamo captured of me at the Ultimate Bridal Event! I’ll be doing an entire blog post coming up next Freyday with all the photos from the show that others took of me! Let’s just say it was magical ![]()

Here’s a close up, the text reads: ”Cinderella, also known as photographer, Jessica Frey talks to 5-year-old Alex Franklin at the Ultimate Bridal Event Sunday at Rabobank Convention Center. Frey was helping a friend (Colleen Bauer) at the Fairy Godmother booth, which offers wedding and event planning services.” YEA!!! I absolutely adore my Fairy Godmothers and any bride would be making a wonderful choice to hire them on to take care of all the details/day of coordinating/etc!!! You can find all of their information here: abridesfairygodmother.com

Have a wonderful day!!! Thank you for letting me share what an amazing week this has been for me! I truly am so blessed and thankful!!!
