Mackinac Island Wedding – Anniversary!
August 17, 2011

Happy Anniversary Kelly & Andrew!
This time last summer, I finally met Kelly, a bride from Michigan I had only talked on the phone with – and was able to work for my good friend Matt who owns Yeoman Photography (Grand Rapids, MI) and capture her wedding to Andrew on the absolutely picturesque location of Mackinac Island, MI! It was an amazing trip made perfect by the bond I had with Kelly – we just clicked (no pun intended!) and from the moment I met her after traveling from CA by plane, car and boat – I knew she was special! A year later, I received a package in the mail with a sweet note of thanks and a DVD of the classic movie, Somewhere in Time! (Somewhere in Time is a wonderful romantic movie set at The Grand Hotel with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymore that I highly recommend!) It blew me away how kind and thoughtful Kelly was – and the timing was amazing! I’ve been planning to do a 1 year anniversary blog post of their Day After photo shoot that I did with Matt.
Here are a few of my favorites, congratulations you two – and I’m so excited about your new adventures together this month!!
If you’d like to see my travel photos and others from the day after Kelly & Andrew’s wedding, here is my blog post from last summer: Mackinac Island – Travel photos
I would love to share, with Kelly’s permission, my card with you: ”Jessica, I am passing along a heartfelt thank you for being there with me throughout the weekend of my wedding! I do not regret not having bridesmaids, however I did suspect that I would regret not having my friends there the morning of my wedding. Little could I have imagined what a gift it was to have you at the hotel while I was getting ready for one of the most important days of my life! You were an angel in disguise! :) Not only did you capture what was most important for Andrew and I, but you helped capture some beautiful moments as I walked in my dress into Lake Huron with the Mackinaw Bridge behind me! Good luck with all of your future endevors! Live, Love, Laugh, Kelly” This makes my heart happy and I feel so blessed – thank you Kelly!!!

Cheers, you two!! Congratulations – enjoy your Anniversary this weekend! Big Hugs- Jessica

Wedding Wednesday – Real Bride Megan
May 25, 2011
Jason & Megan – New Braunfels, TX Wedding
Thank you to my beautiful and sweet future sister-in-law for being our New Braunfels, TX featured bride here on the blog! I gave Megan 10 questions to help all you brides out there planning their wedding. If there are any questions you want me to ask in future editions, please let me know in the comment section! If you’ve missed any other Real Bride posts click here: Ashley
1. When and where will your wedding take place?
Sunday, July 3rd. Boulder Springs Event Center — New Braunfels, TX
2. What has been the hardest part of your planning process?
Staying under budget, research for all the amenities — flower shops, venues, catering, linens, beverages, gift favors, decorations, etc.
3. Describe your “Dress Shopping” experience!
I purchased my dress from Alfred Angelo. It was the only place I tried on dresses at b/c I fell in love with a dress there. I am the type of person that once I find something I love I stick to my gut feeling — unless it is out of budget, which my dress was NOT!!!
4. What have you LOVED about the planning process?!
Spending quality time with my mother, sister, and Aunt Patrice. They have truly helped so much with their unique ideas.
5. What’s one DETAIL that you don’t mind sharing and absolutely LOVE!!!?
My memory wall — we will have wedding pictures of our grandparents, parents, aunts & uncles, siblings, etc
6. What are your top 3 priorities as you plan your wedding and why?!
Budget — need to have a strict budget and know what to spend money on and what could be added later if money allows.
Great food — this was a HUGE priority for my father. He wants the guests to leave satisfied.
Atmosphere to fit the bride & groom (VENUE) – wanted to find the perfect venue that we both knew was the PERFECT place for our special day
7. Are you more EXCITED or NERVOUS about the big day?! Less than 2 months to go!!:)
EXCITED — just a little bit nervous…I don’t like to be the center of attention
8. What are your wedding colors and how did you decide them?
Purple & Neutrals — purple is an accent through-out the wedding. Purple has been my favorite color since I was a little girl. The love of purple comes from my paternal grandmother (Granny).
9. If you had an extra $10,000 added to your wedding budget TODAY… what would you invest in?
Liquor & Champagne — we are serving beer & margaritas. Possibly someone driving us away in an old car…
10. What advice do you have for a bride who has JUST gotten engaged?!!
When you think of ideas always have a plan B if your plan A does not pan out. Things will work out even if you have to change your thinking/ideas. Somehow everything works out — don’t stress too much. Enjoy the planning time with your family, future family, and fiancé. This is a time you will not get back so just enjoy the experience of being engaged.
