A Little Mermaid Inspired Weddings – The Details!
October 1, 2012
A year ago, I combined my love of Disney princesses with my wedding photography to help inspire brides today who wanted to create a modern and elegant wedding inspired by elements of Fairy Tales! After producing a Snow White, Sleeping Beauty & Beauty & the Beast weddings (and our Little Mermaid fairy tale shoot found HERE) we’ve now created an amazing nautical/beach wedding with some great touches from our favorite, The Little Mermaid!! I didn’t want to do a ‘beach’ wedding per se and really wanted it to speak to the love story between Ariel & Eric. I wanted to incorporate touches of Ariel’s love for humans, while also including their new world together….while also having touches of ‘the sea’! With the help of some amazing vendors and friends, we headed to a beach in beautiful Malibu, CA – fought the crowds and set up a mini wedding!!!
I hope these details inspire you to dream big and design your wedding using modern and classy details!! Congratulations to all you Disney brides out there – let us know what you think!!
Wedding logo created by Matinae Design Studio – Tridents + an Anchor. It doesn’t get better than that!!
The most amazing shoes I’ve ever seen…custom created by A Glass Slipper by Duchess Design! You send Jennie your shoes, she creates a masterpiece made out of swarovski crystals! This pair have over 7500 hand placed Swarovski crystals using the colors Vitrial Medium that shifts from sea green to coral. You can’t find a more perfect fit for a Little Mermaid inspired wedding, right?!
We had to have real fish…..swimming amongst a wrecked ship…surrounded by human treasure!!
Our beautiful cake! And yes…it’s topped with a snarfblatt.

*Stay tuned for more images on Wednesday’s blog post!!

Details are a photographers dream. Well, that and the perfect clients! I was lucky enough to have both in Mike & Shannon. They created a gorgeous “Endless Summer/Beach Boys” feel for their Carpinteria beach wedding and centered it around a love for music. Their talented friend and graphic designer utilized the engagement photos we took (HERE) and designed some of the most unique invitations I’ve ever seen! When I saw these at our last prep meeting, I got excited to see how the colors and wedding details would all come together….and I was not disappointed! The Rincon Beach Club was set up so beautifully and the day just sailed smoothly as 80 of their family and friends helped celebrate their wedding day! Here are some of my favorite details, getting ready shots, First Look photos, and many shots we took before heading to the beach for the ceremony. Enjoy and congratulations Mike and Shannon – you two are such a wonderful couple with fantastic friends and families and I feel so blessed to have been there for you to capture the fun and love surrounding you on your big day! -Jessica
How amazing are these ‘programs’?! The CD’s were full of information and an actual soundtrack of good vibrations and perfect beach music
Mike & Shannon opted to do a First Look in order to get a lot of great photos and relax with family and their wedding party prior to the ceremony. I just love when we have the time to allow this special, intimate moment to occur.
Wedding Party – you guys were fabulous! Thanks for having fun with it, enjoying every moment with Shannon and Mike…and allowing me to number you off 1-4 Male and Female ;0)
Get it girl! I loved working with Paige…this girl could pose and rock a tutu better than anyone I’ve met!
Here is a glimps of the Rincon Beach Club’s reception area. It just sparkled at night and I’ll show more in the next blog post:
I love that they found a ton of old records to utilize as centerpieces with their wedding logo on it!

Wow! Those pics were great and I was even there for the whole thing. But I had no idea how beautiful everything really was. Plus you really captured how truly happy Mike and Shannon were that day. Thanks so much!

I love the magical weddings you create.
So, so, so pretty! I love all the details. I think you need to collect all the stationery you’ve done shoots or workshops with this year and somehow do an end of the year wrap up post with them. They’re too pretty not to be photographed again! See you tomorrow darling!
