Hi Everyone!!! So, Wedding Wednesday is back on the blog – and I’m so excited to welcome an amazing vendor who has become a great friend of mine….Amanda Klawitter, owner of House of Flowers in Bakersfield, CA. We’ve worked together on so many amazing weddings and I’m always excited when I hear my brides have booked her because I know her talent plus love for her business and clients will mean absolutely beautiful and unique flowers/bouquets/centerpieces that I’ll get to photograph! Amanda and her fabulous mom Diana have created a booming business located in downtown Bakersfield off 19th and Eye – stop in anytime your downtown and tell them I said hello!
Enjoy this fun ‘get to know Amanda’ interview and photos – and if you have any questions, need an arrangement or need a florist for your wedding or event, call them today at 661.326.7000
Not so much of a Starbucks person but I LOVE Dagny’s Iced White Tea and Iced Coffee.
Getting to be a small part of the most important day in couple’s lives! Everyone is always so happy and the nervous excitement is always so contagious.
Being very loyal…. and in all aspects of my life… friends, family and business!
I’m a huge fan of classic cars. When I graduated from high school my parents bought me my dream car, a 1963 Ford Falcon convertible.
I think we all know that when the groom takes his shirt off on the dance floor and his groomsmen start an amateur break dance battle— its going to be the most fun anyone has had at a wedding! True story.
I love it when brides trust us vendors completely and are like: “Do whatever you want” This allows us to create without boundaries and we’re essentially doing something we’ve never seen before and would like to….I love using elements that aren’t conventional to flower design. We love using wheat grass & other organic elements in centerpieces, and creating funky shaped designs that don’t follow any of those “what a wedding is supposed to look like” rules.
I have two….Africa and Spain.
My boyfriend isn’t going to appreciate this, but he knows…… Johnny Depp
Green
Anything BBQ….I can make some mean tri-tip.
Its so gratifying. Making something that brings so much joy to people is an awesome feeling. Not to mention the fact that our medium for design allows us to use some of nature’s most beautiful creations!! Although owning a business is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, its also the most rewarding. This is why I love it, we’re constantly being challenged, and as a result, we’re constantly learning and growing!
We’re loving the themed weddings! Some of the cool ones we’ve seen so far: Parisian, Secret Garden and Hollywood Glamour.
We always cringe when we hear of brides doing their own flowers. Your day is meant to be enjoyed by you and your loved ones and a wedding can be stressful enough without the added responsibility of doing something yourself just to save a couple of bucks. Let the professionals do what they do best, and realize that the more educated you are about the product, the more buying power you have…… that goes with all aspects of a wedding, not just flowers.
We’re professionals that take a great deal of pride in what we do and the end product that we provide. One thing that sets us apart is the fact that we’re very easy going and understanding of all couples. We understand that they aren’t getting married every year, and that this whole process can be a bit scary and overwhelming for them, and I think a lot of other professionals forget that, and aren‘t willing to spend the extra time educating couples on the vast number of possibilities . We absolutely love our jobs (and still pinch ourselves at the idea of getting to call it our jobs!) and because of that, our willingness to go above and beyond for our clients comes as second nature.
Here are just a few shots of the amazing floral bouquets she’s created for my couples:

Such a great interview! It’s always fun to get to know wedding industry professionals 🙂
PS…I am in LOVE with the pink and white bouquet with the blue ribbon around it…the second image up. It’s GORGEOUS!!! Tell Kevin the next time he wants to send me any flowers I want an arrangement like that 😀
