Hi everyone! Today’s blog is short and sweet…it’s 6:30am here on the East Coast and I’m gearing up for Day 2 of our Kern County Honor Flight!! We met and traveled with 91 WWII and Vietnam Veterans yesterday at 6am from Bakersfield…landed in DC just as the sun was setting. It’s already been such a blessing meeting these men, hearing some of their stories and photographing their arrival departure and arrival. Today, we have the opportunity to visit many of their memorials and DC monuments and I cannot wait!
Thank you Kern County for an AMAZING send off – we’ll see you tomorrow!!!
Hi Everyone and happy Freyday!! It’s been such a busy fall season – thank you to all of my amazing clients for continuing to trust me with your memories 😉 Although I am photographing weddings 98% of my time, I love getting to see old clients and friends and capture more of their life stores as their families grow – so today, I’d LOVE to share a few peek into the family sessions I got to do this fall! 😉 Big hugs to you all!
Oh – and if you keep scrolling, I had the chance to go out and relax last night with my Fairy Godmother at Disney on Ice! She knows the way to my heart – thank you so much Colleen for thinking of me & for a magical evening!!
***p.s. I will be out of the office this coming Tues-Friday for the Kern County Honor Flight! I’m so excited to help document 91 vets as we travel from Bakersfield, CA (6am flight!!whoowhoo) to their memorials in Washington DC! I’ll do my best to share while we’re there, so make sure to follow my Facebook page!
***p.s.s. This season is now booked full between travel and holidays, BUT – you’re always welcome to gift a session to a loved one for the holidays! Contact me at Jessica@JessicaFreyPhotography.com to see about getting a gift certificate 😉
That friends is what you get when a concept, dress, model, lighting friend, location and patience combine! I was so excited to do a personal shoot that I’ve envisioned for years now that involved a beautiful girl, a beautiful gown – and a train. I love the juxtaposition and the use of lighting that my amazing and talented friend Tim Chong was able to help me with! We tried a few looks – starting with natural evening light, some 1 flash off camera and then the grand finale – 2 light set up to get that fun beautiful rim/Hollywood glamour look! Enjoy some of my favorites and a huge Thank you to both Juliane for modeling for me AGAIN (Yea for our Snow White!) and to Tim for always being willing to help me learn the technical side of photography and his patience with me while trying to translate an idea in my head to the camera 😉
Have a great Monday everyone – stay tuned for a sweet Anniversary session coming on Wednesday!! -Jessica
OH – and P.S. If you click here: Disney Weddings you’ll see our Little Mermaid Styled Wedding shoot gracing the Disney Fairy Tales Wedding Blog!!!! SO EXCITED!
Labor Day was a special one for these two!! I met up with Michaela last week to go over final details of the photo shoot she wanted to do as a gift to her boyfiend, Lukios – a fun shoot to celebrate his birthday and capture their love! I was excited to see them Monday evening and after getting ready to head to our location she put out her left hand and her eyes lit up! Wait, what?!?! Oh yeah – Lukious had proposed to her Monday morning! “This is not an engagement shoot though!” So now we got to spend an hour photographing a special day – their first day as fiancee’s and it was such a blessing to watch them laugh, love and enjoy just being together. You could tell they had a special connection and I’m so happy for them and this next adventure together!
Congratulations you guys – thanks for letting me freeze this special day for you & enjoy the shout outs (yea!!).
Time to get patriotic….
I always ask my clients what their favorite things are – hobbies/sports teams/movies/etc. These two? Crowns and Captain America! I loved it and made sure we had time to show off their props and personalities!
Miss Bakersfield 2011 and her Hero
And then….we had this beautiful sunset to close out our evening!
Congratulations you guys!!!!

When you’re a transplant to Bakersfield, CA you often look for things that remind you of home. For me, it’s the Lupine that look like Bluebonnets, the oil derricks and of course cows! For Kelsey & Stacie who moved here from Colorado, it’s the rivers and mountains! So, what better way to incorporate their love of home into their engagement photos than to head to the Kern River for some fun near the river! It was great getting to know these two and hear their story, and bond over moving to Bakersfield and ‘enjoying’ the 100 degree weather! We got to chat football (go Cowboys!! Sorry you Bronco’s fans!), guns and rattlesnakes! So, take a peek into their session and congratulations Kelcie & Stacie on planning your wedding day!!
